Brandon's 2nd Birthday and James' Baby Blessing

Brandon had his 2nd birthday on the 27th. I think he had a good day. We went to lunch and then we went to Reno. We went to Sheels and rode the ferris wheel and then we went to Outback where they sang to him. He was pretty excited. On Sunday we blessed James. He was a good baby and his dad gave him a great blessing. Later that night we had a birthday party for Brandon. He had a blast. He got to choose the dinner and so we had fetticine alfredo. Can you tell he enjoyed it. He couldn't get it in fast enough with two forks so Uncle Bub had to help. He had lots of friends and family there to celebrate with him. It was like Christmas all over again. All and all we had a great time in Fallon. While we were gone, the guy who delivered our fuel tank backed into my car and the snow grew quite a bit but other than that all was well.

The holidays in Fallon

So we have been in Fallon for a couple of days now and Brandon was so excited on Christmas Eve. We had a big family celebration with the McKnights and us. Santa dropped in a little early before making the rounds and gave all of the kids a set of pajamas. Brandon wasn't too sure if the guy was okay to be friends with or not. James really didn't care as long as he had the pacifier. Santa came later that night and gave Brandon a new "Cars" Tri-cycle. He was so excited and refused to get off. James got a few blankets and other baby items. Dwight recieved a bed roll to keep him warm and comfortable on campouts. I received a dodge caravan. We took family pictures today and boy was it cold. But they weren't to bad. We hope everyone had a merry christmas and the holidays have been fun for everyone.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Well I am a little slow. Our tree has been up for 2 weeks. But I haven't really done much else. Dwight did get lights up outside, so he is doing better than me. All in all it is beginning to feel like Christmas. We have gotten most of the candy plates delivered, and cards are almost in the mail. Brandon is in charge of turning on the lights everyday. He loves it. He is doing better with the baby but still likes to pester him. James is really good. Still sleeps more in the day than at night but we are getting better. His cord and ring fell off last week so we were able to give him a real bath. He really enjoyed it until he had to get out in the cold. We have had a lot of snow this past week. And there is more on the way. I hope that we get the moisture we need, but man I could do without the wind. It makes it so cold. We have been in sub-zero temps the past couple of days.

And the name is.....

And the name is.....James Edwin Little. He is named after his two great grandfathers. We came home yesterday and it has been nice to be in a surrounding with family. My mom has been a major help with Brandon and the house. He is not sure about the baby yet. He tries to throw things at him, and doesn't quite understand that the baby can't protect himself yet. But I think he is getting the idea. We are both having a hard time, because I am not able to pick him up and he just wants mom to pick him up and hold him. So he is learning how to climb. But I think he found the perfect replacement. He loves his grandma so much. I really don't know what I would do without her.

He is here!!!!

Well, the baby is here he weighed 8 lbs and 1 oz and is 20 inches long. A little smaller than Brandon but also two weeks earlier. We still haven't picked a name. We are leaning towards Edwin James, or Edwin McCormick. We still aren't sure. Brandon likes to tickle him so far. The baby has tons of hair. I think we are going to have to give him a cut when we get home. He is a good baby, rarely cries and so far has slept a lot. He looks a lot like Brandon except for the hair color. Hope everyone had a great turkey day.

Okay so I am a little more ready today than I was a couple of days ago, we got all the baby stuff out and put up or put away in cupboards. Brandon has been such a big help. He thinks he needs to try everything before we let the new baby use it. We have gone through pacifiers, bottles, car seats, blankets, clothes and whatever else he thinks he needs to do. Also here is the final baby bump photo. We are all ready for the hospital. We are pre-registered, have all the blood work done, and the bags are mostly packed. I still have a few things that need to be put in it, but they are going to have to wait until right before we leave. Tawni had her baby yesterday. Kambree Michelle. She is such a doll. Congrats to her. Hope everyone is doing well.

Only a few days and still not ready

Well the new baby should be here by 11:00 on Friday morning. As long as all goes well. I have been trying to get things ready for him and Brandon. My cousin Tawni, my cousin Josh's wife and I are all due on the same day. How ironic huh? But Tawni is going in on Tuesday, and Josh's wife and I will be going in on Friday. Along with getting ready for Thanksgiving and family things have been a little hectic this week. I am going to teach nursery tomorrow and then probably have to retire from my job for a while, even though this is not an official calling, Brandon will not go by himself. My friend Janessa made some really cute Thank you cards for her baby so I copied her and made some. As you can see I am not as talented as she is but if you would like the pattern her blog is the one at the right called "Delightfully Domestic." Anyways Brandon has been keeping busy with all the water in the yard. I just put in a full load of his clothes that were covered in mud and still soaked. I am not sure how a little boy can go through so many clothes but I guess boys will be boys. He loves his rain boots and wears them every chance he gets, even if he is only going to play in the bathtub.

This and That

Well it seems like time has flown up until this point. I have 20 days until the new baby is here. Excited and still feeling like there is so much to do. But I am not really sure where to start. We still haven't thought of the perfect name, I hope it comes when we see the little guy. Dwight has been hunting a lot this month trying to fill his tags, and Brandon has gone with him a couple of times. He just can't get enough of his dad. I go for the ride, but man it gets bumpy sometimes. Brandon went to the doctor today. He had a rough night last night. The doc said that he has a severe ear infection and he had to get a shot. He wasn't very happy. He also has a high pain tolerance because we really had no idea he had the infection.
It snowed two nights ago and today it has been misty and cold. I think winter is here to stay. We have been busy with all of the fall work as well. The cows are coming home today, can't say that I am super psyched. It means more chores. Oh well, it keeps everyone busy and happy?
We went up the other night and got our Christmas tree. The snow was started to get kind of deep where we wanted to get it so, it is all ready for us to put into the house. Well that's about all the excitement here.

Baby News

It is official we are having the baby on November 28, the day after Thanksgiving. The doc was going to make the schedule. We have been doing well keeping the gestational diabetes under control with diet and exercise. That is a big relief to me. I wasn't really looking forward to giving myself insulane shots, and I don't think Dwight was super psyched about it either. Everything is progressing like it should and we are waiting anxiously for the day to come. We still haven't really picked out any names, though my mom and gram have taught Brandon to call him Mac after my grandpa McCormick. Dwight likes the name Edwin. Brandon is okay with the new baby I think, but I am not sure how he will feel when the baby can't go back to where he came from. He is funny. He is not sure what to think when the baby kicks him through my belly. Sometimes he laughs and sometimes he glares. Hopefully they will be best friends.

Potato Harvest

We started digging the potatoes on Monday. Brandon went to Grandma and Grandpa Thompsons for the week. He was excited to go and didn't care if Dwight and I even existed. We are glad that he loves them that much and likes to go for visits. We have most of the potatoes in the cellar and hope it doesn't freeze to hard this weekend so we can get the rest. Harvest this far has been fairly successful. We definatley have been blessed for doing what the Lord would have us do (leaving at the end of June for a youth trek to WY). We have had some great help from friends and family with the harvest and we truly couldn't have done it without them.

Brandon at Gma & Gpa Thompsons

This kid knows where the real fun is. This is his home away from home. He loves to go and terrorize his grandparents. During spud harvest he went for a week and was able to go ride a ferris wheel, see a bunch of animals (stuffed), ride the four-wheelers, show them what to really do with tomatoes and soak in as much love from them as possible. He has been having a great time and really hasn't missed mom and dad. He is coming home tomorrow though and we can't wait to have some noise back in the house.
